FCS&CA department Pulwama intensifies market checking, seals seven shops

Arising State Desk : Pulwama, April 19: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department Pulwama on Monday inspected multiple shops across District for selling commodities at exorbitant rates and sealed seven shops.

An official of the department said that they had received a complaint against different shopkeepers of District for selling the commodities at exorbitant rates.

He said that “Multiple departmental teams, comprising of TSO concerned and officials of the District Enforcement squad,were as such constituted to visit the spots wherein the shop owners were found selling the essential commodities at exorbitant rates in contravention to government-fixed rates.”

“Our team inspected more than 50 shops and sealed 7 shops including 6 poultry shops and one meat Shop on spot , besides, realisation of fine of Rs 8500 from the erring shopkeepers,” the official added.

He further added that area wise teams, constituted by AD FCS CA Pulwama ,have been directed to conduct such inspections in different areas of the district to implement rates of essential commodities fixed by the government in view of the Holy month of Ramadan.

The Department has asked people to cooperate with its officials so that Govt.fixed rates are enforced and the menace of overpricing is curbed in the whole District.
