Shiv Sena opposes converting Amarnath base camp into Covid Center, seeks LG’s intervention to restore NH-44

Jammu: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray Jammu and Kashmir unit has expressed strong opposition to the alleged deliberations going on in the administration to make the Amarnath base camp at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu , a Covid Center, besides expressing grave concern over the deteriorating condition of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. While addressing the media here today    President UT , J&K  Manish Sahni appealed to the government to reconsider its proposal to convert Amarnath base camp of Bhagwati Nagar into a Covid centre and go for other options as this is not only going to hamper the smooth Amarnath Ji Yatra. Sahni appealed to Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to ensure that the aforesaid Amarnath base camp is not converted into Covid Care Center. While expressing serious concern over the condition of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) that is allegedly deteriorating with each passing day, the Shiv Sena President appealed to LG Sinha to issue directions to the concerned authorities and agencies to expedite the repair and restoration work on this highway as the hiccups in smooth traffic.

 He said that the stretch from Udhampur to Banihal has been causing more problems and the same needs to be transformed into all weather highway. Sahni regretted over the government’s alleged neglectful attitude towards the plight of the National Highway adding that the existing situation sometimes compels people to doubt the government’s intentions.

Sahni said that  few days left for the commencement of the holy Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and knowing that  it is not possible to get rid of the COVID-19 pandemic soon, the government needs to take appropriate steps for the smooth conduct of the most revered pilgrimage to Lord Shiva’s abode in the Kashmir valley. Those present during the press conference included President  Women Wing, Meenakshi Chhibber, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, GI Singh, Secretary Balwant Singh, Bodhraj, Women Secretary Geeta Lakhotra, Meena Kumari, Rajesh Handa, Dimple and Ashish Bali.
