Tral, 29 March: A government school in the Gulab Bagh (Wanibathoo) area of Tral in South Kashmir has been awaiting repair from the last four years.

As per the locals, the Primary school of Gulab Bagh was damaged in 2017, after gushing water washed away its several portions, thereby making it difficult for students to carry on with their studies.

One of the locals, Younis Ahmad told Arising State, “even after four years, the school hasn’t been repaired by the authorities, due to which students have to go far off places for attending school.”

He said that Gulab Bagh is the only village in the Tral sub-district, which has no school in this advanced era due to which the poor families are facing barriers.

Another local Shabir Ahmad has said, “many families in the village are poor, and can’t afford transport fares for their children on daily basis.”

The residents have sought immediate intervention of concerned officials into the matter, and demanded that school should be restarted in their village.

ADC Tral, S.A. Raina has, however, said that he has already discussed the issue with the concerned ZEOs.

He said that he met some villagers as well and will try his best to restart school in the village soon, with the cooperation of locals.
