Domestic violence : Anantnag woman battling for life in SMHS Hospital,accused arrested

Anantnag 29 March: Anantnag woman (name withheld)  who was allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws in Akura Mattan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday morning is battling for life in SMHS hospital here in Srinagar.

The 32-year-old woman, mother of two kids was allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws on Thursday morning after which she was rushed to GMC Anantnag where doctors referred her to SMHS Hospital for specialized treatment.

According to her family members, the victims’ condition is worsening day by day at SMHS Hospital Srinagar, the victim’s family puts blame on her in-laws and have alleged that she was put ablaze at her home in the Akura Mattan area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday morning. While talking to the Arising State, the victim’s brother said, ”her sister has suffered over 90% burns and is put in observation, at SMHS hospital Srinagar, she is in critical condition, according to doctors,”. Added that the victim has already given a statement to police that she was set ablaze allegedly by her husband and in-laws.”

However, a video had already gone viral on social media in which the victim accuses that she has been set ablaze allegedly by her husband and in-laws.

Talking to Arising state a police official said that we have arrested her husband, father-in-law, and mother-in-law for questioning, added that the investigation is going on.

He said that an FIR No 15/2021 under section 309 of the Indian Penal Code was registered in the case.

Meanwhile, Gh Qadir the victim’s father while talking to the Arising state said,” I want justice, I want culprits to be punished as soon as possible so that it works as a deterrent for others, and no other daughter has to suffer like my daughter,” he said.
