‘Women empowerment synonymous to Mehbooba in J&K’

PDP felicitates newly elected women wing Vice President

 Jammu: Women empowerment is synonymous to Mehbooba Mufti, PDP patron and former chief minister of erstwhile J&K as this noble cause remained her first priority when she was in government.This was stated by newly elected vice president of PDP’s women wing Surjit Kour after she was felicitated by the leaders and the party workers here at party office on Thursday.Prominent among those present in the function at the party headquarters include Abdul Hamid Choudhary Vice President, Amrik Singh Reen and Arshad Malik General Secretaries, Tasuduq Hussain member PAC, State Secretary Rajinder Manhas, RK Pardesi State Secretary Varinder Singh Sonu Addl. Spokesperson Sukhwinder Singh, Harmeet Singh, Anita Rajput, Ranbir Singh Manga, Chattar Saini, Neeraj Chandel, Dimple Kumar, Rajat Gupta, Rajinder Chib and Tripta Bhagat.

Addressing the gathering, Kaur said that the prolific and people centric policies of PDP have made this party a vibrant force in Jammu and Kashmir and people in large numbers are embracing this organisation after getting disappointed by the other parties which believe only in rhetoric and on ground their performance is a big zero.Citing the extraordinary work which Mehbooba Mufti accomplished during her stints as the chief minister of the State of J&K, she said that there is no match to her works especially in case of women empowerment. She said that Mehbooba’s Ladli Beti Scheme was so popular that it won accolades of people and was discussed across the length and breadth of the country whenever a scheme for girls or women was to be crafted or implemented.

“Her farsightedness apparently came to fore when she came up with the decision of making stamp duty free for the women. This revolutionary step was historical as people started transferring their property in the names of their daughters and wives thus empowering women on ground”, she said, adding that dozens of other schemes for the benefit of womenfolk were introduced under her governments including enhancement in social welfare pension, scootie scheme, exclusive buses for women and girl passengers, etc.Later, Surjit Kour thanked the party functionaries for honouring her in such a magnificent manner. She vowed to work in the direction to make PDP a strong force to reckon with and also assured that she will leave no stone unturned to make party more strong at the ground level.
