Al-Badar chief killing in Sopore gunfight big success:IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 9 : IGP Kashmir today confirmed the killing of Al-Badr c Chief Ganie Khwaja in an encounter in Tujar Sopore.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed to “KNS” the killing of Al-Badr chief Gani Khaja in Tujjar encounter. He termed the killing as a big success for security forces.
Kashmir police had earlier confirmed the killing of a militant in a tweet, “#SoporeEncounterUpdate: 01 #unidentified #terrorist killed. #Incriminating materials including #arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice”

The encounter had started between militants and government forces in Tujjar area of Sopore in North Kashmir on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, a joint team of Police and the Army had launched a cordon and search operation in Tujjar.

As they reached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an exchange of gunfire.

A senior police officer had confirmed the exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
