MPs should project people’s concern regarding carving of Constituencies to Delimitation Commission: Basharat Bukhari
Srinagar, Feb 27 : Former Law Minister and senior National Conference leader Basharat Bukhari today suggested the Parliamentarians of J&K to advocate the sentiments of people to the Delimitation Commission.
” During the carving of new constituencies, people have different apprehensions, it is important to convey their concerns to the commission. Our Parliament members have a role to represent not only the people of Kashmir but pirpanjal region as well. In case they want to stay away from the activities of the commission. What will they get. Still, Constituencies will be formed and we would be just watching,” he said.
On being asked that National Conference MPs say their opinion is not binding on the commission and call the whole exercise illegal, he said, ” still they can project their opinion. Whatever is happening in UT, it is happening under the reorganization act. When they are fine with other things, why reservation about this only.”
He also said that he had given this suggestion to NC MPs through media also not at the party level.
Regarding the rumors that he is joining a new party, he said, ” giving an opinion about public issues openly doesn’t necessarily mean I am joining another party. These are all rumours.”(KNS)
