Scattered to widespread rain, snowfall to start from tonight till 4th Feb: MeT Dept

Metrological Department today said that under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance,  Scattered to  Widespread Light to Moderate rain/snow very Likely in J&K during 2nd(Night) to 4th Forenoon.
Plains of Jammu likely to experience thunderstorms, lightning &  Hail mainly on 3rd, it said.

There are very less chances of heavy precipitation in the plains of J&K but heavy snowfall, especially on higher reaches of J&K, can’t be ruled out either especially on 3rd Feb, it added.

The Metrological department said that weather disturbance could lead to Temporary Closure of Srinagar-Jmu National Highway,  Land/Mud Slide on Srinagar-Jmu National highway, Delay/Disruption in Flight Operation on 3rd Feb at Srinagar Airport due to snowfall leading to poor visibility and Slippery Road conditions due to snowfall & Low temperature mainly during morning hours.

Regarding the temperature, it said that due to approaching Western disturbance,  there will be an increase in cloud cover over both UTs. As a result, there will be a rise in Min.Temp.(Night) by 2-3deg. & fall, day temp.(Max.) by 4-5deg. (Warmer Nights & Colder Days) from tonight till 4th Feb.
