Govt Primary School of Aghanzpora Awantipora lacks basic amenities
BASHARAT RASHID
Pulwama,02 February: The government primary school in the Aghanzpora area of Awantipora Pulwama lacks basic facilities, leaving students in a state of despair.
The locals blamed the lackadaisical approach of the concerned department and said that unlike other schools, govt school in Aghanzpora lacks infrastructure and other facilities, which is a matter of grave concern.
They said that the primary school, which consists of three rooms only, was constructed some ‘twenty years’ back, which is yet to be upgraded.
One of the locals has said that after completing 5th class, most of the students usually leave studies, “as it becomes very hard for them to reach Awantipora town, that too after crossing Jehlum on wooden boats, in absence of footbridge.”
She said that footbridges were constructed at all other places, but Aghanzpora was ignored at that time, due to which villagers suffer in general and students in particular.
The residents rued that whenever it rains, the students face hardships while reaching the school via boat, which can be dangerous anytime.
They demanded immediate intervention of authorities in upgrading the primary school to the middle with infrastructure and other facilities.
A top official said that he will look into the matter & will talk to the concerned Chief Education Officer pertaining to the issue.
