08 months on, installed transformer in Sofigund Tral lies defunct
The transformer needs some equipments and will be made functional soon: ADC

Tral, 10 Jan: The residents of Nai Basti in Sofigund area of Aripal tehsil in South Kashmir’s Tral sub district have expressed resentment against the power authorities for failing to make the installed transformer functional in the village.
The aggrieved told Arising State that “almost eight months ago, power authorities had installed the transformer under some scheme in their area, which is yet to be made functional.”
They said that Nai Basti locality in Sofigund Aripal has been facing power outages, particularly in winters, following which a tranformer was sanctioned & installed, “but concerned authorities are nowhere to make it functional, thereby causing hardships to the people.”
One of the residents has said that they are getting power from the existing transformer of the village, which is not sufficient, as the transformer, according to him, ‘caters to 70 households’ and give low voltage.
He said that main motive to install the new transformer was to mitigate power crisis in the area, “however, that is yet to become functional, due to which reasons better known to the authorities.”
The residents demanded that new transformer shall be made functional as early as possible, so that they may heave a sigh of relief.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tral, SA Raina, when contacted, said that he has already directed the concerned wing of the department, to make arrangements, pertaining to the functioning of new transformer in Sofigund Aripal Tral.
He said that department has to receive some equipments for the transformer, from outside, and assured that installed transformer in the said area will be made functional after twenty days.
