Awantipora Police arrested 02 Drug Peddlers, Poppy straw recovered

Awantipora 09 Jan: Acting tough against the drug peddlers, Awantipora Police arrested two drug peddlers on Saturday and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

An official said a police party of Pampore on Naka duty arrested two drug peddlers in Pampore area today, who were moving in suspicious circumstances at Doninara Crossing near Grid Station Pampore.

He said that the arrested drug peddlers have been identified as: Mushtaq Ahmad Dar @Mushtaq Tiger S/O Abdul Khaliq Dar, R/O Namblabal Pampore, and Adil Ahmad Bhat @ Adil Gabroo S/O Farooq Ahmad Bhat, R/O Litterbal Pampore.

As per the official, 08 Kgs of contraband substances (Poppy Straw) were recovered from the possession of arrested persons.

A Case vide FIR number 03/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been initiated.

Police said that community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood, and assured that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
