Anantnag : Upper reaches cut off from Anantnag district ,admin on job to clear snow

Anantnag05, January: Anantnag administration is on job to clear the snow on main roads after the district remained enveloped in  snow and witnessed a heavy snowfall, from the last two days, resulting halt in essential services and closure of main roads leading to villages.

The district administration Anantnag is on Job to remove snow from the main roads, however, the upper reaches have been cut off from the district headquarters in Anantnag district, said an official to Arising state.

The administration has set up control rooms across all the districts, however, the snow could not be cleared from most of the parts other than the urban localities.

National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has pressed into service their men and machineries to clear snow and debris from the affected stretches of the Jammu-Srinagar highway.

Meanwhile, the Met office has forecast widespread moderate to heavy snowfall with isolated very heavy snowfall from Monday evening to January 6 forenoon with peak activity during Monday night to Tuesday afternoon in both Jammu and Kashmir regions.

The Srinagar-Jammu highway has been officially closed on the orders of higher officials as the Gate of Kashmir received 3feet of snow.

Men and machinery on as on job to clear the snow on the highway an official told Arising state.

The weather is predicted to improve significantly from January 6 onwards.
