Disallowing bodies to families against the religion, humanity: Mehbooba
Srinagar, Jan 04 : PDP President Mehbooba Mufti Monday asked authorities to return the dead bodies of three youth killed in the Hokersar “encounter”, saying disallowing bodies to families is against the religion and humanity.
Mehbooba was talking to reporters at her Gupkar residence where a joining ceremony of a delegation from north Kashmir’s Sopore was held.
“It is the height of repression that you decline the body of a son to her mother even when the slain is innocent”, she said.
She added that I failed to understand why New Delhi and J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha are not revisiting over wails and cries of a mother.
Referring to the Amshipora encounter which took place on July 18 in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, Mehbooba said that “Earlier Army claimed that it killed three hardcore militants but later on they turned out laborers of Rajouri. This is how things are shaping in Kashmir”, she said.
PDP President further said that during my term, I was forced not to return the bodies of slain militants to families but I resisted and didn’t bow my head as it is against humanity and religion.
