03 drug peddlers arrested in Awantipora, Heroin and Cannabis recovered

Awantipora 03 Jan: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers and its propagators, Awantipora Police arrested three more drug peddlers on Sunday.

Official sources said that two drug peddlers were initially arrested at Toll Plaza during Naka, and have been identified as: Showkat Ahmad Teli S/O Abdul Aziz Teli R/O Sheikh Mohalla Soura Srinagar, and Manzoor Ahmad Kounda S/O Abdul Gaffar R/O Dawood Colony Soura Srinagar.

An official said the duo were arrested while travelling in Scooty bearing registration number JK01AH-4575 from Sanagam towards Awantipora.

He said that 02 kgs of grinded Charas was recovered from their possession, and the Scooty used for the commission of the offence has also been seized.

As per the press release, “During preliminary questioning of the arrested duo, they admitted that they received the recovered contraband from one person namely Ferooz Ahmad Beigh S/O Abdul Rehman Beigh R/O Hariparigam Awantipora.

The press release reads that “after completing the legal formalities, police team of Awantipora along with magistrate searched the house at Hariparigam and recovered 50 grams of Heroin, 01 kg of Charas Powder and 12 Kgs of grinded Cannabis from the house, and accordingly Feroz Ahmad Beigh was also arrested.”

Consequent upon this, case FIR Number 3/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and the investigation of the instant case is going on.
