Anantnag 30, December: The illegal use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes has been going on unabated across Anantnag district under the nose of concerned authorities, who have been acting as mute spectators of this brazen violation.

According to sources the Gas agencies and distributors in south Kashmir’s Anantnag District are violating  Government norms and have been seen illegally transferring domestic into commercial purposes.

Sources said that the illegal refilling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is turning out to be a highly profitable business in south Kashmir’s Anantnag District.

Most of the business establishments including private hospitals, Nursing homes, chemists, restaurants, tea shops, hotels, etc. have been using domestic LPG cylinders instead of commercial LPG in order to save money. This has resulted in a shortage of domestic gas cylinders in the district.

Sources said that while a common man is not giving a single cylinder the dealers are managing to get 5 to 10 cylinders to business establishments who are buying these cylinders at exorbitant rates.

The use of domestic gas for commercial purposes goes unabated in Anantnag District and no one is held accountable for it though it goes against the rules set by consumer Affairs and Public Distribution. (CAPD)
