Gunfight starts in Shopian village

Srinagar: A gunfight broke out between militants and govt. forces in Kanigam village of Shopian district in South Kashmir on Friday.

Sources told Arising State that encounter started after Police, Army and CRPF laid a cordon and search operation on the basis of specific inputs about the presence of militants.

They said that exchange of firing between militants and forces was going on in the area, when this report was being filed.

Reports said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
