Pulwama, 24 Dec: Scores of Casual labourers  in Kashmir have been deprived of their wages, by the concerned department, holding back wages of workers thereby pushing them into severe distress.

A group of aggrieved casual labourers complained that they always stay on duty, ‘irrespective’ of time and location, but their pleas pertaining to the release of pay are yet to be redressed.

One of the labourers told Arising State Correspondent that they are playing an important role in controlling the forest fires and in tranquilizing the wild animals in the residential areas, but the government failed to release their pending wages of nine months.

He said that his family suffers in view of the delay in releasing his pay by the concerned department, since March.

The labourer further said that he is the lone bread earner of  his family, which consists of seven members,  ” faced a tough time during the pandemic lockdown, .”

Another labourer  said that they work in the risk always, and douse forest fires as well as capture wild animals in the residential areas, but their demands are not being fulfilled.

The labourers have unanimously demanded the immediate release of their wages to heave a sigh of relief.
