Gun battle starts at Chatta-Pani on Mughal Road

An encounter has started between militants and security forces at Chatta-Pani area on the Mughal Road in Poonch district on Sunday afternoon.

Officials said that a Cordon and Search Operation launched by security forces in areas along Mughal Road resulted in an encounter.
“ contact has been established with the militants and exchange of firing is going on from both sides,” they said.

Officials added three militants are likely trapped at the Chatta-Pani area along Mughal Road which falls under the Surankote police station of Poonch district. “The area has received heavy snowfall recently and is making the operation difficult,” the official said
