DDC POLLS:Phase two concludes with 49 Percent Voting : SEC K K Sharma
Srinagar, Dec 01 : State Election Commissioner KK Sharma said that phase two of the District Development Councils (DDC) concluded with 49 percent voting and the elections held smoothly in the J&K Union Territory.
According to a news agency, addressing a press conference, Sharma said that phase two elections for DDCs remained Peaceful and the total voting percentage remained at 48.62 percent.
He also said that Jammu recorded 65.54 voting while Kashmir recorded 33.34 percent voting. In the Kashmir region, Bandipora recorded the highest voting percentage 69.66 percent while in Jammu, Poonch District recorded 75.07 Percent of voting.
Meanwhile, he also said that ongoing DDC Elections will pave a way to development at the grassroots level and it is the new columnal of Governance “Each district will have a separate DDC with a chairman and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will be either KAS or an IAS officer.
“The DDCs will have to deal with three F’s—Funds, Functions and Functionaries and decision-making body will be the elected representatives only”,he added
