Demanding 100 KVA transformer, Rakh Litter villagers in Pulwama block road
BASHARAT RASHID
Pulwama: The inhabitants of Rakh Litter in Pulwama district on Thursday morning blocked Pulwama-Litter road, demanding 100 KVA transformer.
The aggrieved residents said that the existing transformer (63 KVA) is not sufficient to cater to the area, “as it develops technical snag usually, thereby leaving residents in trouble.”
They said that the motive behind the blockade of the road in the bone-chilling cold, today, was to demand the 100 KVA transformer for the area.
The residents further said that they went pillar to post to get the power crisis redressed, “but no concrete step is being taken by the authorities in this regard”.
A delegation of locals rued that the low capacity transformer has failed to give any benefit to the people, and alleged that “high capacity transformer has been shown installed on the papers, but on the ground, only a 63 KV transformer is installed.”
The residents demanded immediate intervention of higher-ups into the matter and said that a 100 KV transformer should be given to them at the earliest.
An official has said that the transformer installed in the village ‘suffers technical snag due to overload’ and added that ‘power crisis would be resolved’ soon.
