Gunfight rages in Pulwama village

PULWAMA: A gunfight has started between militants and govt. forces in Parigam village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday afternoon.
Sources said that the encounter started after a joint team of forces including the Army, SOG of Police, and CRPF, laid a cordon and search operation in the Parigam area, on the basis of specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
They said that firing was started suddenly, soon after the joint forces stepped towards the suspected spot, where hiding militants fired upon them.
The encounter was going on, in the area, with firing, on both the sides, when this report was filed in.
Reports said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the village.
