8 -Day Skill Enterpreneurship Course for Rural Youth Kickstarted at SKUAST-K

Srinagar: Keeping up its endeavour  towards empowerment of rural youth by imparting income generating skills, KVK Srinagar, SKUAST-K, kickstarted 8 Day Skill Enterpreneurship course on “Market Driven value addition of Diverse Food products” at ATIC,Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K, Shalimar in association with Division of Food Science &Technology on 6th January 2024.

Head KVK, Dr Simnani in his opening remarks, highlighted the Importance of conducting such skill oriented trainings in the  backdrop of Hon’ble PM’s Slogan of Sankalp se Siddhi aimed at doubling of our farmer’s income  through improved supply /value chain system to reduce post harvest losses besides improving processing ,Value addition packaging  and market linkages.

Dr.Masrat Shafi scientist from Div.of  FST stressed on the concerns of overcoming of  nutritional security through fortification of the market product. Dr.Poonam from ATIC deliberated on role of its centre facilitating the entrepreneurs to transform their units into business modules by way of providing Handholding through various schemes launched by the SKUAST-K under the banner of  Innovation & Incubation of budding entrepreneurs initiated by Prof.Nazir A.Ganai Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K during the last  two years read the statetment issued.

Further, Dr.Simnani urged participating  trainees to take up more such skill oriented course not only to empower themselves through self employment generation but also become a job provider to unemployed youth.

Other participating KVK scientists namely  Dr.Gazanfer, Dr.Rayees and Dr.Quraazeh  provided their inputs for incorporation  schedule make the training more purposeful.

Coordinator of the training course Dr.Aasima Rafiq presented overview  of   day to day traning  modules of “Hands on Diverse market Products”. All the trainees expressed their enthusiasm for participation and the program ended with the vote of thanks for day 1.
