7697 COVID positive persons recovered in the district : DC Anantnag
Briefs on measures being taken to deal with the Covid-19 Situation
ANANTNAG, MAY 19 : Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla today said that covid positive persons are recovering at a healthy rate and 7697 cases have recovered in the district so far.
The DC said this while briefing about the situation arising from the 2nd wave of Covid Pandemic besides the measures being taken to combat its effects in the district.
He informed that near about 2000 Covid-19 tests in addition to those at Testing Centre Lower Munda are being done per day. He added that additional facility created at GHSS Ranibagh has helped decongest the GMC Anantnag premises besides allowing the hospital staff focus on the treatment of covid positives.
Highlighting the importance of testing and segregation for combating the infectious disease, Dr. Singla said that 65 areas have been declared Containment Zones so far where containment measures are followed strictly besides smooth delivery of essential items/services under Covid SOPs is being done. “Aggressive contact tracing and testing are being followed with 13.7 contacts tested per index case,” he added.
Regarding vaccination, the DC said 52 per cent population from the target group of people aged above 45 years has been vaccinated so far with a preference for immunization of vulnerable groups.
Dr Singla said the senior officers from the administration are visiting the covid care hospitals, covid centres, containment zones and testing facilities on regular basis besides local PRIs/Health Clubs have been roped in for Community-level Covid Mitigation.
He said the administration has enhanced medical infrastructure for better healthcare to the covid patients reducing the referral rate to tertiary covid care hospitals.
Emphasizing on the effectiveness of restrictions and SOPs, the DC said the same has helped in bringing down the infection rate and appealed the public to stick to guidelines/SOPs besides avoiding the gatherings to save precious lives.
Dr. Singla thanked the people for cooperating with the administration and solicited further support to contain the pandemic effectively.
