42- Year- old dies in Anantnag Jail

Anantnag, 09,Nov: A 42- year- old man from Shalipora Kulgam district of south Kashmir lodged in a jail in Anantnag district has died, official sources said on Monday. The deceased identified as Shahzad Ahmad Wani, son of Ali Muhammad Wani of Shalipora Kulgam was lodged in district jail in Anantnag later admitted to GMC Anantnag after he had contracted some illness, sources said.
The deceased was arrested under provisions of the unlawful activities (prevention) Act last year and booked in a case (FIR 82/2019)under section number 13 UA(P) A at Police station DH Pora.
Wani was arrested days after five non -local labourers were killed by suspected unidentified men in Katrasoo Anantnag on 29 October 2019 and was later lodged in jail.
The deceased inmate was feeling unwell for the last few days and was admitted to GMC Anantnag where he breathed his last on Monday morning.
Official sources said that the cause of death is being ascertained and details will be shared later.
