18 injured after school bus meets accident in Ganderbal

Eighteen girl students and a teacher were injured on Wednesday after a picnic bus met with an accident in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Reports said that a bus bearing number JK15-5460 lost control and skidded off the road at Lar-Bypass area of Ganderbal district, resulting in injuries to eighteen students and a teacher. The students and the teacher belonged to Government Boys Middle School Pethkoot Bandipora.

Soon after the accident, the injured students were shifted to Ganderbal hospital for the treatment. The injured students have been identified as Parveena (14) daughter of Jameel Ahmad Mughal, Tasleema (12) daughter of Ruvaid Ahmad, Arizoo (16) daughter of  Rafeeq Ahmad Gojer, Naseema (13) daughter of Shabir Ahmad Gojer, Aabida (12) daughter of Mohmad Sarwer Gojer, Nasreena (11) daughter of Sarafraz Ahmad, Jameena (13) daughter of Abdul Rashid, Mehnaaz (14) daughter of Mohd Amin Khan, Kulsuma (13) daughter of Showkat Ahmad Khan, Shubeena (14) daughter of Sarafraz Khan, all residents of Check Watrigam, Bandipora. The school teacher has been identified as Mohammad Yousuf (36) Chopan, son of Mohd Abdullah of Panzalpora.

Media reports also suggest that five among the injured include Aabida, Tasleema, Mehnaaza, Jameena Bano and Parveena were referred to district hospital Ganderbal and two other injured Kulsuma and Shubeena were shifted to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.

According to reports the  school was on a picnic to Sonamarg and were on way back to Bandipora when the mishap took place.

Meanwhile, police have taken the cognizance of the accident and further investigations were taken up
