11 candidates in fray to contest DDC polls tomorrow from twin blocks of Anantnag, 6 women and 5 male

Anantnag,27, Nov: voting for the first phase of DDC elections will start tomorrow on November 28 in twin blocks of south Kashmir’s Anantnag District.

According to official sources, the total number of DDC candidates in the first phase of elections in Pahalgam and Larnoo kokernag block is 11 including 6 women and 5 male candidates.

Official sources said that five candidates are contesting for DDC polls in the Larnoo block of Anantnag, all of whom are women. Among those  Farhana Akhter of congress, Khalida Bibi of PDP, While Zahida Akhter, Sajida Begum, and Munira Akhter are in the fray as independent candidates.

However, in Pahalgam a lone woman independent candidate namely Khalida Parveen is contesting against the NC, PDP, AAP, and other two independent candidates at Pahalgam block.

The majority of Candidates are women who belong to backward classes. According to these women, they said that despite previous governments their class has been ignored in every way. We want to stand on our own feet so that we can better represent our own class Contestants, they said.
