03 ‘militants’ killed in Srinagar gunfight

Srinagar: Three ‘militants’ have been killed in a gunfight which was started on Tuesday evening in Srinagar outskirts of Central Kashmir.

Reports said that three unidentified ‘militants’ got killed in the overnight gunfight at Hokarsar area of Lawaypora in Srinagar, whose identity is being ascertained.

The encounter was started on Tuesday evening, which was suspended for night, and was resumed in the morning today.

However, the families of the slain maintained that they were civilians having no association with any militant outfit.

The operation, as per the sources, was jointly conducted by a team of Police, Army and CRPF, which raged after a cordon and search operation was launched in Hokarsar area.

Pertinently, traffic on Srinagar-Baramulla highway was diverted via Magam-Budgam, in wake of the encounter.
