Anantnag,01 April: The government primary school in Langanbal Pahalgam village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag District is painting another grim picture of education department with school having only one female teacher to teach 45 students up to class 5.

“The lone female teacher risks her life walking miles everyday  through dense forests to reach the school. There are no subject-specific teachers in the school only one lady teacher is posted there from last 12 years who teaches 45 students in the school up to 5th class ,”said locals.

According to locals whose wards are enrolled in the school said that the school has total enrolment of 60 students, adding that only one teacher has been deputed to teach all the students, while other posts are lying vacant from a long time.

Locals said that the lone  teacher  risks her life walking  through dense forests ,a place vulnerable to wild animals ,to reach the school.”We have requested several times to officials to depute more teachers in the  school but their pleas fell on deaf ears,” they said

Added that the concerned officials never visited the school since the school was established .

According to sources the female teacher is posted in the primary school from last 12 years and single handedly taking care of the school.
