GDC Tral Bids Adieu to Prof. (Dr.) Bashir Ahmad Mir on his Superannuation
Prof. (Dr.) Muhammad Farooq Mir assumes charge of GDC Tral as the 20th Principal
Tral: A Superannuation cum Welcome function was organized by Govt. Degree College, Tral in Southern Kashmir.
The program was organized to bid adieu to Prof(Dr)Bashir Ahmad Mir on attaining superannuation and to welcome Prof (Dr)Mohammad Farooq Mir on joining as the 20th principal of the college.
Principals, faculty members and students from various colleges of the valley visited GDC Tral to congratulate Prof.(Dr.)Bashir Ahmad Mir for completion of his career successfully.
The program was initiated by the welcome speech of Prof Shaheen Khursheed. Among the guests, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather (Principal, Amar Singh College, Srinagar) ,Ex Registrar Cluster University Prof. Abdul Hamid Sheikh, Prof Ali Mohd Dar, Prof. Mushtaq Ali Mir, Dr. Suhaib Bandh and Dr. Aftab highlighted and appreciated the invaluable contribution of Prof. Mir to the Higher Education Department.
Principal Prof (Dr.)Bashir Ahmad Mir in his emotional speech thanked everybody for showering so much respect and honour and thanked Allah for enabling him to complete his service tenure successfully.
All the guests, students and faculty wished him a contented and joyous post retirement life. They prayed that may he find useful ways to engage himself in the service of God and men in the days to come.
A Kashmiri shawl and a memento was presented to him by Prof. Bashir Ahmad Shah and Prof. Ishaq Ahmad Wani on behalf of the staff council as a mark of gratitude for all that he has done for the Institution.
As the baton was handed over to the incumbent principal Prof. (Dr.) Muhammad Farooq Mir, he highlighted the achievements of Prof. (Dr.) B A Mir in his brief tenure at GDC Tral.
He acknowledged that he is consciously ready to take up this huge responsibility of being the Principal of GDC Tral with humble trust in God and the prayer that he will perform the entrusted task sincerely and tirelessly and put forward the legacy of development and academic excellence to its logical conclusion.
In his address, he also vociferated that his utmost priority and effort shall be to create a Conducive Campus which will be admired for its academic excellence, co-curricular pursuits and discipline that will be a role model for many other Institutions of this kind. He also sought the cooperation of all the stakeholders.
He remarked that the faculty has extended their kind support in the past and shall continue the same with greater eagerness and enthusiasm.
He concluded his address with the remark that “Together we can build upon the great legacy our dear Principal is leaving behind”. Bouquet and memento was presented to him by the renowned faculty member Prof. Shakeel Ahmad Khandey (HOD Physics)
Staff Secretary of the college Prof Syeda Laila Khalid in her farewell speech congratulated him and also delineated the invaluable contribution of Prof.(Dr.) Bashir Ahmad Mir towards the development of the college that too in extremely tough time of COVID-19 crisis. She also wished him healthy and contented post retirement life.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Masood Majaz and programme was moderated by Dr. Hilal Ahmad Wani.
