One female teacher for 60 students in Anantnag’s Pahalgam area

Anantnag,March 31: The government primary school in Gojran Lidru pahalgam village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag District is painting another grim picture of education sector here in Anantnag district with institute having only one teacher to teach 60 students, up to class5.

There are only three rooms, in the school,including an office and a kitchen to accommodate 60 students. Besides, the school also lacks basic infrastructure like toilet facility, , drinking water and playground.

There were no subject-specific teachers in the school only one female teacher is posted there who is teaching 60 students in school, up to 5th class, including three specially abled children.

According to locals whose wards are enrolled in the school said that the school has total enrolment of 60 students, adding that only one teacher has been deputed to teach all the students, while other posts are lying vacant from a long time.

Locals said that despite of several requests made  to higher authorities for deputing more teachers in the school however,the authorities pay deaf ear to their pleas.

As per the locals the enrolled students in this school come from far flung areas and have a very weak financial background.

Pertinently, DDC chairman of Anantnag District Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi hails from the same village. While talking to the Arising sate Gorsi said that he has  already taken up the issue with Deputy commissioner Anantnag ,who has assured him to depute more teachers in the school.

Meanwhile ,Arising state carried a series of stories on rationalization of teachers in Anantnag District from last one month and  to expose the flawed rationalization of teachers by Education department here in Anantnag district.

Talking to Arising state, ZEO Ashmuqam said that the zone Ashmuqam has dearth of teaching staff, the education department has sent us 36 teachers few days back among 36, 7 have joined in zone Ashmuqam, but unfortunately the department has stopped the transfer list with some reasons  better known to them. “We are also waiting for the teachers to join “, said ZEO.
